No matter who you are or where you live, breast cancer may touch your life. Every 60 seconds, someone in the world dies from breast cancer. This year alone, more that 41,000 people in the US will lose their lives and that is unacceptable!
Susan G. Komen is committed to achieving a world without breast cancer. In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, she would do whatever it took to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise turned into the Susan G. Komen® Organization, starting a global movement. According to Komen.org, from $200 and a shoebox full of potential donor names to the world’s largest nonprofit funding the fight against breast cancer. Since 1982, the organization has invested more than $988M in groundbreaking research, $2.2B in education, outreach, advocacy and programs in over 60 countries worldwide. Their efforts are helping reduce deaths from breast cancer by 40% between 1989 and 2016, and won’t stop until their promise is fulfilled.
The Susan G. Komen Organization has transformed the way the world treats and talks about this disease and has brought together the largest and most passionate community.
