Now hiring: Field Service Engineer (v3)

Recruiting · LinkedIn + Facebook · one 4:5 image (1080×1350) · v3 (Nov 5): adds one natural tag of The Manufacturers' Association (JLS is a listed member; York hiring is squarely their mission). PMMI and NAM stay untagged. Also: copy tuned for qualified applicants, UTM-tagged apply links, repost captions and a distribution + tracking plan (below the posts).
Visual: Option B, "Your office has no fixed address" (recommended: no people or machinery, so no photo approvals needed). Option A, the real-photo version, is at the bottom for comparison only.
Apply link goes in the post and the first comment: a first comment doesn't travel with a share. Link checked live Nov 5, including with UTM parameters.

Some engineers were never meant to sit behind a desk.

Hand them a stopped line, a laptop and the schematics, and they'll find the problem. Even better if it's a plant they've never set foot in.

JLS Automation is hiring a Field Service Engineer. You'll install, commission, troubleshoot and train on our robotic packaging systems (delta robots, vision, servo motion, B&R controls) inside food plants, working with our engineering team in York, PA.

What it takes:
- 3–5 years on automated or packaging machinery
- PLCs, servo drives, VFDs, schematics
- 80%+ travel, some weekends, some international
- A passport, or the ability to get one

Worth knowing before you apply: the role includes weekend and holiday availability, and plant floors can run cold, wet or hot for 8+ hours. If that sounds like a normal week, you're who we're looking for.

Reach plan (v3): what reviewers should check

Tagging decision: tag The Manufacturers' Association once; leave PMMI and NAM untagged

  • Why it's a good tag, not a spammy one: it's true (JLS is a listed member), it's relevant (a York hiring post, and their mission is helping manufacturers "operate, hire & train smarter"; their recent posts celebrate member companies' workforce wins), and it reaches a local audience (5.8K York-area followers). One tag in a natural sentence, worded as our membership, doesn't imply they endorse the job.
  • Why not PMMI or NAM: both are national bodies, so a single York job isn't their story. Tagging NAM on a job ad could also look like leverage given Craig Souser's board seat. Use them through member channels instead (below).
  • Make the tag work: email office@macentralpa.org the day before ("we'll mention you as a proud member; we'd welcome a share"). On LinkedIn, type "@Manufacturers" and pick the York page (its name has a hidden character, so the full name may not link). Check the tag renders as a link after posting.

Leadership · any leader
Our customers judge us by what happens after a system ships. The people who install it, start it up and keep it running are a big part of who JLS is. We're adding one to that team. If you know an experienced field service engineer who'd rather be on a plant floor than behind a desk, send them this.
Leadership · hiring manager only
I'm hiring for my team. Field service at JLS means robots, controls, food plants that can't afford to sit idle, and a lot of airports. If you have 3–5 years troubleshooting automated machinery and the travel sounds like a feature, not a bug, take a look.
Leadership · ops or engineering
Field service is where our engineering meets the real world. If you know a technician who lives for the moment the line comes back up, point them here.
Employee · anyone
We're hiring a Field Service Engineer at JLS. If you're the person everyone calls when the machine stops, this could be your next move.
Employee · service team only, if true for you
This is the job I do. Lots of travel, real problems to solve, and a good team back in York. If you'd rather have variety than the same line every day, apply.
Employee · anyone with a network of techs
Know a strong electrical or controls tech who wants to see more of the country? JLS is hiring a Field Service Engineer in York.

Internal distribution and tracking

  • One email the morning it posts to Core + HR + service leadership + the hiring manager: two post links, the optional captions, and one ask: "If you know someone who'd be good at this, send it to them directly. That's worth more than any like." No first-hour like requests, no scripted comments, no engagement pods.
  • Service team first: field service engineers know other field service engineers. One honest sentence from them beats any tag.
  • Referral bonus: the careers page mentions one. HR confirms the details before the email mentions it.
  • UTM links on every placement (utm_campaign=fse_2026; source = linkedin, facebook, email, mascpa, navy_tpp, stevens, penn_college, hacc, psu_york…). The page loads normally with them.
  • Measure: link clicks per post (native analytics), shares and reposts with commentary, applications and qualified applications by source (Paycom; HR to confirm a "How did you hear about this role?" field), and referrals. Read at 24 h, 72 h, 7 d and 14 d. Impressions are context only.
  • Decision rule: clicks high but qualified applications low means fix the message or lean on school and veterans channels. Clicks low means activate partner channels before considering a paid boost (Vincent's call).
