History and Values

Founded in 1955 by Joseph L. Souser
JLS has a legacy of successful implementation of advanced motion control technology in many industrial applications that require precision and reliability. Our introduction to the world of packaging automation dates back to 1993, when we were contracted by food processors to retrofit and upgrade their existing automation machines and systems.

History

JLS Automation started in 1955 as JL Souser, a manufacturers’ representative firm that handled power transmission equipment. When founder Joseph L. Souser passed in 1978, his wife Polly incorporated the business as J.L Souser & Associates, Inc. (JLS). Shortly after, Joe and Polly’s son Craig Souser started leading sales, and expanded the product range to include variable frequency drives and started providing application engineering assistance.

jls-history

In 1991, JLS provided systems engineering and shortly after turnkey engineered systems for a few of its key customers, which led to a field service offering to support its engineered systems. JLS entered the packaging automation segment in 1993, when food processors contacted JLS to retrofit and upgrade their existing automation machines and systems.

Today, JLS Automation supplies simple, easy-to-use hygienic robotic packaging solutions that optimize performance for the food industry. Designed for sanitary environments, JLS custom vision-guided primary and secondary robotic packaging systems are user-friendly, easy to operate, fast to start-up, and ensure both worker and food safety. The company’s proprietary robotic tooling and high-speed leak detection systems have been awarded several patents. To this day, JLS continues to pride itself on offering unrivaled partnership and aftermarket support to its customers.
